Biography

Sophie Maraldo is a dedicated family lawyer at North Shore Law LLP, practicing exclusively in family law. Her transition into family law reflects both a professional and personal commitment to guiding individuals through complex and often emotionally challenging legal matters. Sophie approaches every family law file with empathy, clarity, and strong advocacy, drawing from a broad foundation of legal experience to support her clients through separation, divorce, parenting, and related disputes.

Admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2022, Sophie brings with her experience in complex civil litigation, including class actions, aviation accidents, product liability claims, and cases involving sexual abuse and trauma. Having appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, Sophie is practical, clear and strategic in her approach to resolving issues.

Before focusing exclusively on family law, Sophie gained experience in cross-border jurisdictional issues and cases involving sexual abuse and trauma, which developed her keen sensitivity to the needs of vulnerable clients. These are skills that now enrich her family law practice.

Originally from Australia, Sophie earned her Bachelor of Laws with Honours and began her career practicing in both family law and major tort class actions. Since relocating to British Columbia, she has immersed herself in the local community.

Sophie is an engaged member of various professional organizations and a believer in lifelong learning. She has participated in national and international legal conferences, including the 2024 American Association for Justice conference in Nashville, and remains committed to ongoing professional development. Sophie’s approach is marked by compassion, diligence, and a focus on achieving meaningful outcomes for her clients.
