North Shore Law Welcomes Erika Nielsen as a New Associate

Celebrating Erika’s Call to the British Columbia Bar

North Shore Law LLP is pleased to announce that Erika Nielsen has joined the firm as an Associate following her call to the British Columbia Bar on May 20, 2026.

Erika joins North Shore Law’s Family Law Group after completing her articles with the firm, where she gained experience assisting clients with family law and estate litigation matters and appeared before both the Provincial Court of British Columbia and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Her transition from articling student to associate reflects North Shore Law’s longstanding commitment to mentoring and developing the next generation of lawyers serving North Vancouver and the broader community.

A Growing Practice in Family Law and Estate Litigation

As a member of North Shore Law’s Family Law Group, Erika practices in family law and estate litigation. She is committed to helping individuals and families navigate complex and emotionally challenging legal matters with compassion, professionalism, and practical legal guidance.

Erika earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in 2025. Prior to attending law school, she completed a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction at Simon Fraser University, majoring in Criminology and minoring in History.

During law school, Erika developed a strong interest in advocacy and family law while competing in a family law simulated court proceeding competition (moot), where she and her team earned first place in 2024. She later volunteered as a moot mentor, coaching first-year law students in advocacy and legal analysis.

Her background in advocacy and client-focused problem-solving continues to shape her approach to legal practice today.

Supporting the Development of Future Lawyers

North Shore Law has a long history of supporting law students and articling students as they begin their legal careers. Many lawyers at the firm first joined North Shore Law as students before becoming associates and partners.

Managing Partner Christopher Doll says Erika’s transition to associate is an example of the firm’s continued investment in mentorship and professional development.

We are very pleased to welcome Erika as an Associate at North Shore Law following her call to the bar. Throughout her articling term, she demonstrated strong advocacy skills, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to client service. Supporting the development of new lawyers has always been an important part of our firm culture, and we are proud to see talented young lawyers continue to grow their careers with us.”

Erika says she is excited to continue her career with North Shore Law as a member of the Family Law Group.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my practice at North Shore Law following my call to the bar. During my articles, I had the opportunity to work alongside exceptional lawyers and support clients through complex and often deeply personal legal matters. I look forward to continuing to develop my practice, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the firm’s longstanding commitment to serving the North Shore community.”

North Shore Law remains committed to providing a collaborative and supportive environment for students and young lawyers developing their practices in North Vancouver.
