Robert V. Burns
Robert Burns was born and raised in Vancouver. Since 1973 his law practice has focused on civil litigation, including personal injury claims, insurance litigation, commercial litigation and maritime law. He has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia as well as the Federal Court of Canada.
In his spare time Rob is a keen sports enthusiast and enjoys supporting the athletic programs at UBC. In the past he played rugby with the Meraloma Club, the Legends Rugby Club and the University of British Columbia. He has served as a Director of the Meraloma Club and is a member of the UBC Sports Hall of Fame.
Rob’s other interests include boats and boat building, music and theatre. He is a member of ESPIRITU, a well known North Shore community choir.
After attending Magee High School, Rob went on to study at the University of British Columbia. He obtained his BA in 1968 and LLB in 1972.
Rob is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Vancouver Bar Association and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC (TLABC). He has also served as Chairman of the Maritime Law sub-section of the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association.
Rob was one of the co-authors of the original edition of the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Practice Manual.
The Lawyer Show is an annual theatrical production which raises funds to support two Vancouver theatre companies: Carousel Theatre for Young People and Touchstone Theatre. Rob is a five year veteran of the Lawyer Show as a performer and is delighted to donate his time and talent to support these worthwhile enterprises.
