Mark obtained his B.A. from Simon Fraser University in 1980. He graduated from the University of Victoria Law School in 1983 and was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1984. Mark restricts his practice to litigation, specifically in the area of family, estate, criminal and insurance law matters. He has appeared at all the levels of Court in British Columbia.
In the area of criminal law, he continues to act discreetly for clients charged in various matters including impaired driving cases. He has been retained on an ad hoc basis to act as Crown Counsel in prosecution matters for many years.
Mark's family practice involves considerable trial and chambers experience. In addition to this aspect of practice, he is involved in the preparation and completion of marriage and separation agreements. He is a family law mediator, has been trained in collaborative law and advocates participation in alternative dispute resolution.
He has been an author and lecturer for the Continuing Legal Education Society concerning family law and criminal law issues. Mark has also been involved in a number of professional and community organizations. He is a longstanding member of the Trial Lawyers Association of B.C. and the Canadian Bar Association (CBA). He has served on Provincial Council and chaired various committees of the CBA. He is the past president of the North Shore Bar Association. He is a past President both of the British Columbia Rugby Union and the Capilano Rugby Football Club.
Mark has lived on the North Shore most of his life and has been involved in local organizations such as the Silver Harbour Seniors’ Legal Clinic, the North Shore Community Resource Society and the Capilano Rugby Club. His continued involvement in amateur sport has seen him serve as the president of the British Columbia Rugby Union and on the Board of Rugby Canada.
In his “spare time”, Mark has travelled extensively, plays the drums in various classic rock groups and is a closet Elvis impersonator.
