Jaime Ashby |
Jaime joined North Shore Law LLP in 2011 and is a solicitor, with her preferred areas of practice being corporate/commercial law, wills and estates. She also has experience in criminal law and appeals and general civil litigation.
She was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2006 and practiced in Kamloops, British Columbia until 2010. While working with her previous employer, she was fortunate to be invited to act as junior counsel on R. v. Beatty, a case involving charges of dangerous driving causing death which proceeded all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. This case fueled her interest in legal writing and discourse.
Jaime completed her Master of Laws in Taxation Law in 2007. She puts her tax knowledge to work in the solicitors department of North Shore Law LLP, providing insight on estate plans, corporate reorganizations, or other matters that arise in her practice, or by providing insight on tax-related issues arising in the litigation files of the other lawyers at North Shore Law LLP.
She was born in Canada then moved overseas with her family as an infant, where she remained until she returned to Canada to commence university in 1998. Since returning to Canada, Jaime has become an active volunteer with such organizations as the Union Mission Hospice for Men, Pivot Legal Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and her local Food Bank. She enjoys being involved in her local community, having been a Rotarian for a number of years. Personal interests include cooking, hiking and exploring this fantastic world we live in.
